“I have always believed that the photographic subject does not matter. Whether it is portraits, food, or extreme sports, a great photographer should be able to use their knowledge of light and shadow to create beautiful images.”
“I consider myself fortunate to have started my career with film photography. This experience taught me the intricacies of large-format photography and the importance of achieving the perfect exposure. Today, even in a rapidly evolving digital landscape, I maintain my focus on thorough preparation and pre-visualization, just as I did when shooting film.”
Denman Bennett is a nationally recognized professional photographer and videographer. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Denman, at his roots, is inspired by Respect of Place - the primary fundamental and methodology for his existing work. Raised in the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania, Denman moved to the Southeast to pursue higher education and professional experience.
In 1999, Denman held an internship at National Geographic Headquarters in Washington, DC. The experience solidified what he already knew: he was passionate about creating compelling images.
He later graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Video. Prospering from his degree, Denman worked as a project manager at a film production company in Seattle, Washington. In 2007, Denman traveled back to the Southeast and started working as a full-time independent and freelance professional. He continued his passion for film and video as a videographer and audio engineer for multiple national news organizations, including NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX. Denman additionally worked on various original series, documentaries, and popular reality television.
The initial focus and attention of Denman’s photography were architecture and interiors. In 2007, Denman began working for architectural photographer Richard Leo Johnson. Since then, Denman has connected with some of Southeast's most prominent architects, interior designers, builders, magazines, and book publishers. His natural approach is sensitive to the client’s original intention. It is organic, pure, respectful, and simply unmatched.
Although Denman’s work continues to take him to locations far and wide, he is currently based in Brevard, NC
